[To this day, people think Napoleon Bonaparte was always short.
But today I\’m going to clear up that misconception.
This very famous man, born in 1769, is considered a French general,
and also an emperor. He is the most important military leader that has ever existed in the world. He remains in the minds of many, for better or worse.
As a child he attended the Military Academy. After the end of the revolution, he returned to Corsica, but was forced to flee due to conflict with the Nationalists.
He became known primarily for devising the perfect plan to attack the city, which led to his promotion to brigadier general.
During his lifetime, he was imprisoned. He was only released for two weeks.
His life was full of wars and battles.
So much so that he was exiled to the island of Elba in the 19th century and forced to renounce his throne.
However, he succeeded in regaining the throne because the monarch named as his successor was completely unpopular. He was Louis XVIII. Bonaparte, however, had to abdicate and was only on the throne for 100 days.
Bonaparte was detained and forced to spend the rest of his life as a prisoner on the island of St. Helena, where he died in 1821.
Because of the way Napoleon was portrayed, many people believe he was small. Napoleon\’s height was not recorded until after his death, and was 168 cm. It was measured in inches, and then there was some error in the conversion. However, the nickname Bonaparte helped. It was thought to mean small in literal translation, but it was intended to indicate the friendship between Napoleon and the soldiers who fought bravely alongside him. Napoleon was always accompanied by men about a meter tall, so you might have thought he was small, too.
Did you see how right you were? Were you surprised?
